Duration of Facelift

Traditional facelifts generally take about four hours or more and involve general anesthesia so that the recovery time after waking up adds another few hours that the patient is in the doctor´s office or hospital. The modern approach to facelifts which yields the same degree of rejuvenation but is of lower risk is performed under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. This method means that after the patient wakes up from the procedure, the time spent in the office is much shorter and the downtime and recovery postoperatively is reduced to about one week.

The modern facelift as performed at our offices takes about 2 hours but may be longer if the procedure is a revision, if there are other procedures to be performed simultaneously or if there is a significantly advanced level of aging.
